Pretoria - Freedom Park’s acting Chief Executive Jane Mufamadi will lead a delegation comprising council members, researchers, curators, educators, story tellers and technocrats to Bloemfontein in the Free State.
“The purpose of the visit is to meet relevant government departments, interfaith leaders, traditional leaders, community leaders, schools, the National Youth Development Forum and struggle heroes,” Freedom Park said in a statement.
The meetings will be held from Monday till Saturday. Freedom Park’s delegation will hold a meeting with the South African Council of Churches in the province to deliberate on interfaith matters during this week’s consultative meetings, dialogue and workshops.
Freedom Park is a presidential legacy project, which has as its foundation the reconciliation of the South African nation and advancing the rights entrenched in the Constitution of South Africa.
Freedom Park’s elements challenge visitors to reflect on the past to improve the present and build on the future as a united nation.
In partnership with the National Youth Development Agency, the Freedom Park delegation will visit schools and libraries where books about this national heritage monument will be donated.
“The youth are tomorrow’s future leaders. Educating and informing them about the history and culture of the country is Freedom Park’s priority,” Freedom Park said.
Freedom Park honoured the efforts of the country’s heroes and heroines who died in the struggles for humanity and freedom.
The Freedom Park delegation will also engage in dialogue with the struggle heroes in the Free State to ascertain the struggle history in South Africa.
During the stakeholder engagements, the delegation will engage in a dialogue with Chief Taaibos, the Khoisan community leader.
The dialogue will include issues relating to the Khoi and the San communities to ascertain the history and the struggle journeys of these people in the Free State. – SAnews.gov.za
