Pretoria - Metrorail is offering free train rides today to soccer fans attending the Netherlands vs Denmark match at Soccer City.
This, according to Metrorail, will save soccer fans from getting stuck in traffic jams. The game is scheduled to start at 13h30.
Valid match ticket holders travelling from Sandton, Rivonia, Johannesburg CBD, East Rand, West Rand can go to Johannesburg Park Station and park their vehicles at the Rissik Street parking lot, free of charge.
They will be able to board a train at platform 11 and 12 and travel to the newly refurbished Nasrec Station which is situated approximately five minutes from the stadium.
Match ticket holders in Pretoria and surrounding areas can catch trains at Pretoria station and travel to Nasrec Station, via Johannesburg Station.
The train schedule for the Denmark vs Nederlands game, starting at 13:30 at Soccer City is as follows:
Train 1:
From Pretoria Station, train departs at 10:10, arriving at Nasrec Station at 12:12.
The train will depart Nasrec Station at 15:50, arriving at Pretoria Station at 17:52.
Train 2:
From Pretoria Station, train departs at 10:53, arriving at Nasrec Station at 12:31.
The train will depart Nasrec station 15:45, arriving at Pretoria Station at 17:22.
Johannesburg station (3 trains and continuous shuttle services):
Train1:
From Johannesburg Park Station, the train departs at 10:53, arriving at Nasrec Station at 11:33.
The train will depart from Nasrec Station at 16:20, arriving at Johannesburg Park Station at 16:54.
Train 2:
From Johannesburg Park Station, the train departs at 11:01, arriving at Nasrec Station at 11:40.
Departing from Nasrec Station at 16:20, arriving at Park Station 16:54.
Train 3:
Train departs from Johannesburg Park Station at 11:21, arriving at Nasrec Station at 12:00.
The train will depart from Nasrec Station at 15:50, arriving Johannesburg Station at 16:29.
Metrorail is also offering free train rides to the Bafana Bafana vs Uruguay game on Wednesday at Loftus Versveld in Tshwane to valid match ticket holders. The game is scheduled to start at 20h30.
