Free buses for Ekurhuleni residents to pay homage to Madiba

Pretoria - Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality has organised 20 buses to ferry residents at no cost to view President Nelson Mandela’s remains lying in state at the Union Buildings on Friday, December 13.

The international icon, who died at the age of 95 at his Houghton house, north of Johannesburg on December 5, will be buried on Sunday, December 15 at his home village of Qunu in the Eastern Cape.

Nine pick-up points have been identified and will open at 6am. The buses, which will be clearly marked for identification, will all depart for Tshwane at 7am and will return from 5pm.

The pick-up points are as follows:

• Daveyton Mall, Daveyton

• Kwa-Thema Civic Centre, Kwa-Thema

• Faranani Multi-Purpose Centre, Tsakane • Phomolong Pay-point, Tembisa

• Tembisa Mall, Tembisa • Lesedi Shopping Mall, Vosloorus.

Members of the public can view Madiba’s remains from 7am and 5pm on Thursday and Friday. – SAnews.gov.za
