Thursday, February 8, 2018

Former acting National Police Commissioner, Khomotso Phahlane, is appearing in the Specialised Commercial Crimes court this morning, to face alleged corruption and money-laundering charges.

Phahlane and his wife handed themselves over to the authorities.

Phahlane has been facing allegations of corruption and has been under investigation by the police watchdog, Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).

Phahlane, who was suspended in June 2017, is accused of fraud and corruption for allegedly taking kickbacks to secure police tenders for a company during his tenure as head of the police's forensics division.

There has also been questions around how he could afford a multi-million rand home and luxury cars. – SAnews.gov.za
