Eskom warns of recruitment scam

Thursday, October 8, 2015

Pretoria - Eskom has warned the general public about a scam that is currently taking place in Lephalale in Limpopo.

The criminals’ modus operandi is to advertise jobs in the area and once a would-be applicant is called in for an interview a fee is solicited from them.

“Eskom would like to state categorically that the company would never ask members of the public seeking employment to pay in order to be successfully recruited into Eskom,” Eskom said in a statement.

In addition, all Eskom jobs are advertised on the Eskom website and job seekers are encouraged to verify all job adverts by visiting the Eskom website on https://secapps.eskom.co.za/sites/recruitment/Pages/home.aspx and searching under the recruitment page.

Eskom urged members of the public not to fall victim to these scam artists and fraudsters.

Anyone who comes across such practices or who is approached in this manner should contact Eskom’s toll free crime line on 0800 11 27 22 or email investigate@eskom.co.za to report the incident. – SAnews.gov.za
