Pretoria - Power utility Eskom implemented stage 1 load-shedding this afternoon.
The utility implemented load-shedding from 2pm.
As the system remains constrained, there is also a high probability that Eskom may move to stage 2 load-shedding in the evening, it said in its Twitter feed.
Stage one of load shedding allows for up to 1 000MW to be shed off the grid, while stage two allows for up to 2 000MW to be shed. Stage three of load-shedding allows for up to 4 000MW to be shed.
This afternoon’s load-shedding follows on South Africans being plunged in the dark as a result of load-shedding on Tuesday.
Eskom implements load shedding as a measure of last resort to protect the power system from collapsing, and it only load sheds we only what is required to balance demand and supply. - SAnews.gov.za
