Pretoria - The Health Department has dismissed rumours that there is a condom shortage in the country.
The department on Monday said it had not detected such a shortage in condom distribution, and that rumours to that effect were "untrue and unfounded".
According to the department, the monthly distribution of between 38 and 43 million condoms was well on track. In November 2009 alone, it distributed about 63 million condoms.
The ministry further assured that it did not anticipate any shortage during the 2010 FIFA World Cup to be held in June.
