Pretoria - The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature, in partnership with the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM), will on Friday commemorate the International Nelson Mandela Day with a range of activities at Mdantsane.
The Provincial Legislature on Monday said it will together with BCMM devote 67 minutes to honour the legacy of the first democratic President and world icon utata uNelson Rolihlahla Mandela.
“Activities planned include renovations and general cleaning of Dickson Dyan Senior Primary School in NU 9 and donation of computers, cleaning and bush clearing of NU 1 Graveyard also known Mtsotso Cemetery, tree planting and donation of office equipment at Mdantsane Arts Centre, and donation of 67 books and other fiction and nonfiction books at the and Mdantsane Library,” said the Provincial Legislature.
In recognition of the former President, affectionately known as utata Madiba to many, contributions to democracy, racial justice, and reconciliation and his service to humanity, the United Nations General Assembly declared 18 July as Nelson Mandela International Day. - SAnews.gov.za
