Pretoria - With a large influx of tourists expected for the duration of the FIFA World Cup, the eThekwini Municipality's Durban Tourism Unit has set up mobile Tourism Information Kiosks.

Launched yesterday, the nine kiosks will be strategically placed in and around the city where tourists are expected. Among others, they will be found in Umhlanga, Durban North, Galleria Shopping Centre, the Transport Hub at the Workshop and Florida Road.

Each of the mobile kiosks will have internet as well as mobile communication facilities. All 2010 mobile kiosks will be fully operational from Wednesday, 9 June.

"They are aimed at providing the information interlink between tourists and the City. They will assist with directions; suggest places of interest and help with translations as all kiosks will be manned by multilingual information officers," said acting head of the unit, Philip Sithole.
