Pretoria - Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma says she will use the next few weeks to learn about her new department's functions and diverse mandates.

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs has been appointed Minister of Home Affairs in President Jacob Zuma's cabinet.

Speaking to BuaNews shortly after being sworn in as a member of Cabinet at the Presidential Guesthouse on Monday, Ms Dlamini Zuma said she would be working closely with her Deputy, Malusi Gigaba, to learn about the department and how to fulfill her role as minister.

"I am prepared to build on the foundation laid by my predecessor Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula. I am also looking forward to continue working hard to improve the pace of service delivery for the benefit of our people," said Dr Dlamini Zuma.

She further appealed to South Africans to work with the department and give it their full support in order for it do more.
