Thursday, November 6, 2014

Pretoria - Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will this weekend embark on an outreach campaign of the HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) Campaign in Embalenhle in Secunda, Mpumalanga.

He will also chair a plenary session of the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) on Saturday.

The outreach programme of the HCT Campaign seeks to provide Sasol employees, contractors and the surrounding communities with much-needed comprehensive health services.

The outreach programme forms part of a partnership between government, Sasol and other business.

Health services for HIV testing and counselling, hypertension, diabetes, TB and other diseases will be made available to members of the public.

The national HTC Campaign was launched by President Jacob Zuma in April 2010 to encourage people to know their HIV status and access counselling and treatment.

During his visit on Saturday, Deputy President Ramaphosa is expected to sign a pledge between government and business in the township and conduct a walk-about in the community.

He is expected to be accompanied by government leaders and business executives. – SAnews.gov.za
