Employees at State-owned aerospace and defence technology company Denel will be paid as planned next week, said the company.
“Denel has confirmed to its employees, including all organised labour unions in the company, that the December salaries, as well as the outstanding 13th cheque payments, will be paid out as planned on 22 December,” said Denel on Friday.
The announcement comes after a week of intense engagements the company held with its shareholder representative, the Department of Public Enterprises, and National Treasury about its severe liquidity challenges.
Group Chief Financial Officer of Denel, Odwa Mhlwana, said the company will continue to pay suppliers.
“I also want to thank them for being patient with us at times when we were not able to honour our obligations. We are also thankful to our employees for their patience and understanding during these past two weeks,” he said. – SAnews.gov.za
