Pretoria - Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) Minister Des van Rooyen has payed tribute to the late Deputy Mayor of Richmond Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, Thandazile Phoswa.
Phoswa was reportedly murdered on Sunday.
The Minister has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to her family and colleagues.
“It is the passing of such committed servants of our people that leaves us poorer in our determination to deliver services to the people.
“We hope that her passing will motivate all of us to keep her legacy alive by ensuring that we deliver to our communities as expected,” said Minister Van Rooyen.
A few weeks ago, the Municipal Manager of the same municipality, S'bu Sithole, was assassinated.
The department called on bereaved colleagues to draw motivation to work hard, do more and continue the good work that their late colleagues had started in the municipality.
“We urge communities to work with law enforcement agencies to bring all these cases to finality,” said the department. - SAnews.gov.za
