Compensation Fund decentralises services

Friday, June 13, 2014

Pretoria – Claimants of the Compensation Fund will no longer have to wait long periods for the settlement of their claims, thanks to a new integrated claim management system.

The new decentralised system, which kicked off on Thursday throughout the country, the Compensation Fund will be able to improve the turnaround for the settlement of claims.

Compensation Fund spokesperson Dikentsho Seabo from the Compensation Funds explained that with the new system, the claims will no longer take longer than 30 days to process.

Seabo said once you have lodged your claim you will be able to get feedback immediately.

“This system will also provide medical service providers with an electronic submission, there will no longer be paper being sent to Compensation Funds by medical service providers and this will also result in cost saving for both the service providers and Compensation Fund,” Seabo explained.

Compensation Fund Commissioner Shadrack Mkhonto is to hold a series of provincial visits to engage stakeholders that are affected by this change.

The visits started on Thursday in Bloemfontein and today he is visiting Mpumalanga. Visits to other provinces are to follow, and he is expected to visit Polokwane on 20 June 2014.

The Compensation Fund is an entity of the Department of Labour and provides compensation to employees who are injured or contract diseases through the course of their employment. – SAnews.gov.za
