Collins Chabane - Minister in the Presidency

Pretoria - Collins Chabane has been announced as second Minister in the Presidency.

He will head the Performance Monitoring and Evaluation as well as Administration in the Presidency which will monitor and evaluate the performance of government in all three spheres.

Mr Chabane was appointed in 2005, as Limpopo's MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, joined the African National Congress (ANC) in 1980.

He then underwent military training in Angola and worked underground for the ANC in 1981.

In 1990, he was elected as the Provincial Secretary-General of the ANC in the then Northern Province (Limpopo) until 1998.

Mr Chabane became a Member of the National Assembly after the first democratic elections in 1994.

He served as a member on several committees in 1994 including the Joint Committee on Defence and Intelligence; Standing Committee: Finance, Minerals and Energy Affairs as well as a member on the Constitutional and Management: Constitutional Assembly.
