Pretoria - The Coega Development Corporation (CDC) will this week hold roadshows that are aimed at informing small businesses about opportunities available to them.
Kicking off on Thursday, the roadshows will take place at various places in the Eastern Cape.
“The stakeholder roadshows will cover the length and breadth of the Eastern Cape to inform and empower communities and small businesses about Coega’s job opportunities, small business development and support, training and development opportunities, and the Beijing Automobile International Corporation (BAIC) update,” said the CDC on Monday.
Last month, the CDC hosted a sod turning ceremony to mark the R11 billion investment by BAIC at the Coega Industrial Development Zone.
Earlier in August, Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies announced the successful contractual conclusion between BAIC and the CDC to establish a completely knocked down (CKD) automotive manufacturing plant in the Coega IDZ.
The roadshows will kick off in Nelson Mandela Bay’s Gelvandale Community Hall on Thursday at 10 am and at Nangoza Jebe Hall in New Brighton at 4 pm.
The roadshows will also cover East London, Matatiele, Ntabankulu, Mthatha, and Queenstown.
The roadshows will conclude on 23 September at the Queenstown town hall starting at 10am. – SAnews.gov.za
