Clean-up operation at Jozi taxi ranks

Thursday, July 20, 2017

Two major taxi ranks in Johannesburg will be cleaned up by the Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Men’s Forum today.

“As part of Men’s Month activities, the forum will drive a clean-up campaign, which aims to encourage Gauteng residents, particularly males, to be agents of the change they want to see in society,” the Gauteng Provincial Legislature said.

The forum consists of all male Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs) as well as male staffers.

The clean-up drive will start at 10am at MTN taxi rank and proceed to Bree taxi rank. Men will be shown the value of getting rid of waste the right way, which will contribute to cleaner and healthier public spaces.

“The campaign also aims to create public awareness among taxi drivers and general commuters about general hygiene, environmental preservation and the health benefits of maintaining clean environments,” the Gauteng Provincial Legislature said. – SAnews.gov.za
