Cape Town hosts Compensation Fund employer info sessions

Tuesday, November 13, 2018

The Compensation Fund employer briefing session, which will focus on the newly-proposed employer’s assessment model under the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COID), will be held in Cape Town this morning.

The event will be held at Cape Town Sun Square City Bowl between 09:00 and 11:00.

The session follows the recent publishing of the employer's assessment model in the Government Gazette in response to concerns raised by employers about the current assessment model.

The benefits of this assessment model, as outlined by the Compensation Fund and mutual associations, indicate that it will assist in complying with the relevant accounting standards and reduce losses due to fraudulent activities.

Furthermore, it will ensure that the implementation of the regulation will bring about the improvement of service delivery and more effective enforcement.

As far as employers and employees are concerned, the fund says the registration process will be easy and accurate for employers and lead to accurate billing, and complaints from employers will be effectively addressed, improving the current turnaround period for class and subclass changes.

Employees, on the other hand, will benefit through improved access to social security. - SAnews.gov.za
