Cape Town dam levels above 60%

Monday, August 20, 2018

For the first time since 2016, dam levels in the City of Cape Town have passed the 60% mark.

For the past week, dam levels improved slightly by 1.3% to 60.1% of storage capacity, and the average water consumption rose from 519 million to 527 million litres per day.

The City of Cape Town said it is encouraged by this milestone. It thanked water users for continuing to use as little water as possible.

“This remains a priority effort to ensure that we build a buffer against the summer months ahead,” the city said on Monday. – SAnews.gov.za
