Pretoria - Cabinet says it fully supports the preliminary findings from the investigation into the landing of a civilian aircraft at Waterkloof Air Force Base.
A task team of Directors-General has completed an investigation into the matter.
The team probed the controversial landing of the private aircraft hired by the Gupta family at Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria.
“The safety and sovereignty of South Africa is of paramount importance. Violation of laws and rules relevant to ports of entry and facilities of strategic national importance must be dealt with firmly and without fear or favour,” acting Cabinet spokesperson Phumla Williams said on Thursday.
Those who infringed the country’s regulations should face the full might of the law, she said.
Cabinet noted that the Justice, Crime, Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster ministers were currently considering the report submitted by the Directors-General on Tuesday.
The ministers will hold a press briefing on a date to be announced soon.
On Wednesday, Williams said government appreciated the seriousness of the matter and appealed to the public to exercise patience.
“The JCPS ministers are committed to ensure that the outcome of this investigation results in stringent measures being put in place to avoid a re-occurrence of such incidents in the future,” Williams said. – SAnews.gov.za
