Pretoria - An elated Argentinean side will face Germany in a quarter-final match on Saturday at Cape Town's Green Point Stadium, after defeating Mexico 3-1 in a knock-out match at Soccer City on Sunday.

Argentina's first goal came in the eighth minute through a Carlos Tevez header. He appeared to be offside but the referee awarded the goal after consultation with his lines man.

Gonzalo Higuain scored in the 33rd minute after Ricardo Osorio played a square pass to the feet of the Real Madrid striker, who outwitted Mexican goalie, Oscar Perez.

Man of the Match Tevez, got a brace in the 52nd minute when he unleashed a volley from 25 metres, while the Mexicans got their consolation goal through Javier Hernandez in the 71st minute.

Diego Maradona and his men will look to outwit and play a confident German team, who in 2006 booted them out of the quarter-finals of the 2006 World Cup.

Even when the two nations met in the 1990 World Cup Final, it was the Germans who emerged victorious.

Argentina have not lost a match in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, while the Germans have only lost to Serbia.
