Allegations to honour Zuma's wife dismissed

Pretoria - Reports that the Sedibeng municipality plans to honour President Jacob Zuma's first wife Sizakele Khumalo are false, says the Presidency.

Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said neither the Presidency nor the family of the President has received any invitation or been advised of any plans in this regard.

He was responding to reports - which have sparked outrage from the Sharpeville Concerned Residents' Association - about the honour to be conferred on Khumalo, popularly known as maKhumalo.

The Sowetan newspaper reported that the Sedibeng municipality announced last week that it planned to honour maKhumalo on Human Rights Day on 21 March.
