Rustenburg - The Royal Bafokeng Stadium is ready and fully prepared to host the millions of local and international soccer fans that will converge in South Africa in June.
Briefing reporters recently, Executive Mayor of the Rustenburg Local Municipality Jeanette Dibetso Nyathi said the municipality has made every effort to ensure that those visiting Rustenburg for the World Cup enjoy all the matches.
For those soccer fans, who will not be lucky enough to get their hands on one of the sought after match tickets, the Rustenburg FIFA Fan Park will be the place to be. The Fan Park will be situated at the Fields College, 12 kilometres from the stadium.
"Our fan park has big giant screens, entertainment, food and beverage facilities that will provide the perfect opportunity for spectators, tourists and residents who cannot make it into the stadium, to share the excitement of the 2010 FIFA World Cup," she said.
The province will host the tournament at the 45 000 capacity Royal Bafokeng Stadium, where six World Cup matches will be played.
Rustenburg will host five matches - includes matches between England and USA on 12 June, New Zealand and Slovakia on 15 June, Ghana and Australia on 19 June, Mexico and Uruguay on 22 June as well as Denmark against Japan on 24 June 2010.
Rustenburg will be home to England and Spain during the tournament. England will be based in Rustenburg while Spain will be based in Potchefstroom.
