President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived in Geneva, Swiss Confederation, on Thursday, where he will co-chair the Fourth Meeting of the Global Commission on the Future of Work of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
The meeting, which started on Wednesday, will wind up today.
It follows the conclusion of President Ramaphosa’s working visit to Belgium where he led the South African delegation at the 7th European Union – South Africa Summit.
The High-Level Global Commission, comprising academics, technical experts from various economic and social fields, government, business and labour.
It was established by the ILO in 2017 to assess the rapid transformation taking place in the global economy and world of work, and identify the key challenges and recommendations.
President Ramaphosa joined Prime Minister Stefan Löfven of the Kingdom of Sweden as co-chair of the commission in May 2018.
"The Fourth Meeting of the Global Commission will focus on finalising the report of the Global Commission on the Future of Work, which will be launched on 22 January 2019.
"The report will be central to the discussions at the International Labour Conference in June 2019, the outcome of which is expected to inform the policy direction the organisation takes with regard to the Future of Work," said the Presidency.
