Pretoria – Free State Premier Ace Magashule has made some changes to the provincial cabinet after a thorough consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
Limakatso Mahasa has been appointed as the new MEC for Social Development.
Mahasa was formerly the chairperson of the Free State Legislature’s committee on Governance, which is responsible for Cooperative Governance, Office of the Premier and Legislature.
“As a young person MEC Mahasa will add an enriched and vibrant flavour into the provincial cabinet,” the Office of the Premier said.
Sisi Ntombela has been appointed the new MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements.
Ntombela replaces Olly Mlamleli, who has now been elected as the Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metro Municipality, following the 3 August Local Government Elections.
Dr. Benny Malakoane has been moved from the Department of Health and has been appointed the new MEC for Economic and Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs.
Butana Komphela is the new MEC of Health, leaving his previous position as MEC for Police, Roads and Transport.
Former MEC for Economic and Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Sam Mashinini, is the new MEC for Police, Roads and Transport.
