National health lab gets new CEO

Pretoria - The National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) has appointed Joyce Mogale as their new interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from 1 September 2015.

Mogale takes over the reins from Sagie Pillay, who was at the helm of the organisation from 2009-2014.

Mogale was appointed by Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi from November 2014 as the interim CEO.

Mogale holds a Master’s in Business Management (MBA), Postgraduate Diploma in Health Management, BSc (Hons) status in Medical Sciences, Higher National and a National Diplomas in Medical Laboratory Technology.

She is a former Regional Executive Manager of the NHLS. Previously, she worked as a Deputy Director: Laboratory Services in the Department of Health and Welfare in Limpopo.

She has held strategic positions as Director in SMMEs. She is also contracted as a Non-Executive Director of the following boards: Limpopo Gambling Board (Deputy Chairman), Cygnimart, Metso Minerals and Mining, Westvaal (Chairman) and ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions.

She is also a Trustee in the Tirisano, Ububele, Westvaal and Umvuso boards.

Mogale said she is extremely proud and honoured that the leadership of the NHLS has shown confidence in her and that she looks forward to leading the service with a team of excellent staff who are all renowned experts in their respective fields.
