Pretoria – As part of Public Service Month, which is marked in the month of September, government is preparing to host the Annual Thusong Service Week.
Thusong Service Centres are located across the country and provide a hub of activities and a variety of services.
People can access government services such as grants, personal documents and housing applications, as well as Adult Basic Education and Training and advice for small business development.
People are also able to access government information and office services such as phone, fax, scan, copy, print and postal services.
The Thusong Service Centre Programme brings government information and services closer to the people to promote access to opportunities as a basis for improved livelihoods.
There are 185 Thusong Service Centres established in 107 local municipalities country wide, and these are complemented by 114 integrated mobile routes taking government services to the far flung areas.
Thusong Service Week will be held from 14 to 18 September, with a variety of events planned to mark the occasion.
This year marks the 16th year of the programme’s existence.
Public Service Month is an annual service delivery initiative. It is also part of the Batho Pele Revitalisation strategy which seeks to instil and rebuild good ethics, morale and pride in public servants. – SAnews.gov.za
