No load shedding on Sunday

Sunday, August 9, 2015

Pretoria- Pretoria- Eskom said there was no load shedding taking place on Sunday as the power system is stable.

“The power system is currently stable, enabling Eskom to perform maintenance without load shedding,” said the power utility.

The utility added that as a result of increased electricity demand in the evening and power stations’ units being on maintenance, the power system is expected to be constrained during the evening peak period (5pm – 9pm).

Eskom urged electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm. It also appealed to all customers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods from 6am to 10am and 5pm to 9pm.

In winter the electricity demand peaks in the morning and evening as more electricity is used during these times.

Commercial customers, particularly shopping centres and office blocks, can also make a big difference by switching off non-essential lights and not leaving office equipment such as photocopiers and computers in standby mode after hours.-SAnews.gov.za
