No load shedding for today, says Eskom

Pretoria – Eskom says it has adequate generating capacity to meet the demand in electricity at the moment and therefore there is no load shedding currently taking place.

The power system is expected to be constrained again during the evening peak period between 5pm and 9pm, mainly as a result of increased electricity demand.

Eskom urged electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm during the current cold weather conditions across the country.

“In winter the electricity demand peaks in the morning and evening as more electricity is used during these times.

“We appeal to all our customers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods from 6am to 10am and 5pm to 9pm,” said Eskom. – SAnews.gov.za
