Pretoria - The Department of Labour inspectors will conduct an inspection blitz targeting hospitality establishments in Calvinia, De Aar, Kimberley, Postmasburg and Upington from 20 - 24 April.
The main focus of these blitz inspections will be to inspect the level of compliance with the sectoral determination, Basic Conditions of Employment Act and Unemployment Insurance Act.
The sectoral determination for the hospitality sector prescribes the minimum wage employers are required to pay. Currently, the minimum wage for employers with 10 or less workers is R13.34 per hour. For employers with more than 10 workers, it is R14.87 per hour.
Establishments failing to comply will be issued with compliance orders and fines where applicable. – SAnews.gov.za
