Pretoria - The City of Johannesburg has confirmed the suspension of Pikitup Managing Director Amanda Nair.

“Managing Director Amanda Nair has been suspended and formerly charged in summary on matters relating to supply chain management and the Municipal Finance Management Act, pending a disciplinary enquiry instituted against her,” said Pikitup spokesperson Pansy Oyedele.

She said Pikitup Financial Director Suren Maharaj was now acting MD of Pikitup.

Oyedele said specific details of the charges levelled against Nair cannot be made public at this stage to protect the rights of both Pikitup and the employee.

She said the enquiry confirms the city’s commitment to the highest standards of corporate governance as well as to the protection of the right to fair employment practices extended to its employees.

Nair has been notified to attend a pre-disciplinary enquiry, to be held on 27 March. - SAnews.gov.za
