Pretoria - South Africa's under-23 side, Amaglug-glug, will face Gabon in their 2012 Olympic qualifier match in Morocco this evening without their defender Mulomo wa Ndau "Tower" Mathoho.
Team doctor Desmond Lamula and physiotherapist Nhlanhla Maphanga have decided to rest the lanky Mathoho.
"Mathoho came into the camp with injury doubts, and we are happy that he played the full match on Sunday against Cote d'Ivoire. We are treating him twice a day as a precaution, but will need to rest him for the Wednesday match," said Lamula.
The medical team has also attended to Sameehg Doutie, Gladwin Shitolo, Ace Bhengu, goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo and Sibusiso Mxoyana.
"These players sustained minor knocks in our opening match on Sunday. We are currently treating them because we don't want to take anything for granted," he said.
Baby Bafana finished their opening match against Ivory Coast on Sunday with 10 men after midfielder Thami Sangweni was red-carded.
Head coach Ephraim "Shakes" Mashaba said the team has prepared well for the crucial encounter clash against Gabon.
"We have just finished our last training session before the encounter with Gabon; everything has gone well except for this unfortunate situation with Mathoho. The doctors are working on him and we hope he will recover on time for our final group stages match against Egypt.
"We have reshuffled the team at the back and prepared them well to keep a solid defence," explained Mashaba.
Meanwhile, the under-20 head coach Solly Luvhengo has also wished Baby Bafana well.
"We would like to say we are standing behind them during their Olympic qualifying campaign. We have faith and trust that they will come back victorious," said Luvhengo.
Kick-off for today's match is at 7pm South African time.
