Pretoria - The Chief Financial Officer of FIFA's Local Organising Committee (LOC) is in a stable condition after being shot outside his home in Sandton, Johannesburg, last night.
Police spokeswoman Captain Kym Cloete said police were called out to a shooting incident at Farouk Seedat's home in Gallo Manor at 10am on Tuesday.
"Seedat was shot and was taken to hospital. He is apparently in a stable condition. A case of attempted murder and robbery is being investigated," she said.
Cloete added that because Seedat was still in hospital, police were yet to confirm if anything had been stolen but would investigate a case of robbery until more details emerged.
According to the FIFA website, Seedat was appointed CFO in 2006.
