Pretoria - The Limpopo Department of Health and Social Development is seeking the services of qualified health practitioners and social workers.

Departmental spokesperson, Selby Makgotho told BuaNews that preference will be given to suitably qualified candidates irrespective of where they come from.

"We are making an appeal to all medical doctors and social workers who are interested in joining the department to make their information available at any of the province's 40 hospitals or district offices as a matter of extreme urgency," he said.

Makgotho said interested health practitioners should send their applications to the Human Resource unit at any one of the district hospitals or district offices.

MEC for Health and Social Development Miriam Segabutla said this forms part of the department's skills recruitment drive to respond to the province's needs.

"We are mindful of the fact that health remains one of the key priorities for the next five years and we therefore need to beef up the existing health personnel to enable it to respond to the dynamic daily challenges in our facilities."

The recruitment drive is targeting general practitioners, specialists, dentists, pharmacists, clinical psychologists, professional nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, speech therapists, radiographers, optometrists, dieticians and oral hygienists.
