Thursday, January 23, 2014

Pretoria - The inaugural CHAN winners, the Democratic Republic of Congo, came from behind to book a place in the last eight of the 2014 CHAN when they eliminated Burundi following their 2-1 victory at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Wednesday evening.

The Leopards, who won the championship in Cote d' Ivoire in 2009, finished second in their group behind Gabon and will now face Group C winners Ghana in the last eight in a repeat of that final, four years ago.

The match will be played at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Monday, January 26.

Gabon topped the group after also coming from behind to beat Mauritania 4-2 at Free State Stadium.

On Saturday, Morocco will face continental champions, Nigeria, while Zimbabwe will play against another West African side, Mali, in another quarter-final match. Both games will be played at Cape Town Stadium.

On Sunday, Gabon will play against Libya at Peter Mokaba Stadium. -
