Accra - The nine South African nationals temporarily detained by authorities in Ghana were not in any danger during their detention, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

A group of nine South Africans, who were employees of Venture Communications, were arrested in Accra on Friday over an apparent misunderstanding about their travel documents.

They had travelled to Ghana to perform sub-contract work for the multinational telecommunications company.

Nomfanelo Kota from the department of Foreign Affairs told BuaNews that they were released by the Ghanaian authorities on the same day following an intervention by the South African High Commissioner in Accra, Zodwa Lallie.

"All nine South Africans are accordingly back at their work stations, unharmed."
