FIFA announces referees for World Cup semi-finals

Pretoria - The FIFA Referees Committee has chosen 32-year-old Uzbek referee Ravshan Irmatov to handle tonight's semi-final crucial match between Uruguay and the Netherlands.

When the two teams face each other at Green Point stadium in Cape Town at 20:30, Irmatov who refereed the opening match of the World Cup on June 11 between South Africa and Mexico will be assisted by Rafael Ilyasov from Uzbekistan and Bahadyr Kochkorov from Kyrgyzstan.

This will be the fifth World Cup match to be handled by Irmatov since the kick-off of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Viktor Kassai of Hungary will referee the semi-final match between European champions, Spain and Germany at Moses Mabhida stadium on Wednesday evening.

Kassai, who had already refereed three World Cup matches, will be assisted by his countrymen, Eros Gabor and Vamos Tibor.
