Government Ministers have thrown their weight behind President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), which focused on economic growth, job creation, infrastructure development, and reducing household expenses.

“Our most urgent task is to grow our economy so that we can create jobs, reduce poverty, and improve the lives of all South Africans,” the President told Members of Parliament (MPs) and guests on Thursday evening. 

The President emphasised that the nation urgently requires a robust economy that benefits everyone. 

President Cyril Ramaphosa says government remains committed to working across society to end violence perpetrated against women in the country.

While South Africa’s tourism sector continues to grow, government aims to further grow the sector through several measures which include making it easier for tourists to apply for visas.

Government is working with provinces and metros to reclaim buildings that have been hijacked in the city centres and repurpose them for public use.

In a solemn moment during the State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday evening, led the nation in mourning the tragic loss of 14 South African soldiers, who died while on a peacekeeping mission in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Government will spend more than R940 billion on infrastructure over the next three years.
