Zuma extends Arms Commission term

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has extended the terms of reference of the Arms Procurement Commission to the end of November 2014.

“President Zuma has amended with effect from 04 November 2013 the Terms of Reference of the Commission of Inquiry into allegations of fraud, corruption, impropriety or irregularity in the Strategic Defence Arms Procurement Commission Procurement Package, otherwise known as the Arms Procurement Commission,” the Presidency said on Friday.

In terms of the amendments, the commission will now complete its work by no later than 30 November 2014, and it will submit its final report to the President within a period of six months after the date on which it has completed its investigation.

The commission was set up by the President in October 2011. - SAnews.gov.za
