Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has conveyed his condolences on the passing of legendary football administrator and Premier Soccer League Life President, Dr Leepile Taunyane.

He died on Wednesday at the age of 85.

A remarkable and highly respected citizen of Alexandra township, where he began his career as a football administrator in the 1960s, Taunyane's passion for football and community development was unsurpassed.

He was also the principal of Alexandra Secondary School for many years.

"Even in his twilight years, Dr Taunyane still found time for PSL work. South Africa will sorely miss his steadfast commitment and dedication.

“We wish to express our deepest condolences to his family, the community of Alexandra and the football fraternity at large. May his soul rest in peace," said President Zuma. – SAnews.gov.za
