Zuma awaits response from Shiceka

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma is awaiting a response from Minister of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Sicelo Shiceka, against whom there have been serious allegations of wasteful and possibly fraudulent use of state resources.

Media reported this weekend that Shiceka had used taxpayers' money to construct a large house in his home village of Ingquza Hill in the Eastern Cape.

In a statement, Zuma's office said the President viewed the allegations against him in a serious light.

"We stress, however, that Minister Shiceka remains innocent of the allegations unless proven otherwise," the Presidency said.

The Public Protector has been requested to investigate the allegations against Shiceka. - BuaNews
