Pretoria - Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Ismail Vadi, has expressed his deepest condolences to the families of those who died in a horrific taxi accident on the N14 highway near the R511 off-ramp, near Diepsloot, on Wednesday morning.

The fatal crash claimed six lives and left nine passengers injured. One person was airlifted to Chris-Hani Baragwanath Hospital, while several others were transported by ambulance after the minibus taxi they were travelling in overturned.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased during this time of grief and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured. We would like to once again urge drivers to always exercise caution on the roads.

“We are losing too many people on our roads and the carnage needs to stop. Drivers need to obey all rules of the road, especially during this time of the year. One death is one too many,” Vadi said. - SAnews.gov.za
