UJ to host Physics Annual Conference

Pretoria – Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor will this evening deliver the opening address at the South African Institute of Physics (SAIP) 2014 Annual Conference.

The conference will take place at the University of Johannesburg’s Sanlam Auditorium in Auckland Park.

The SAIP annual conferences aim to support human capital development and knowledge generation for South Africa; showcase and present research from ongoing national and international collaborative projects; and promote international collaboration and the exchange of students in support of international projects such as the Square Kilometre Array, Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Cherenkov Telescope Array, SA-CERN partnership and synchrotron facilities.

This evening, in addition to various student prizes, the SAIP will award a De Beers Gold Medal, which is made for a lifetime of achievement in and contribution to physics in South Africa. – SAnews.gov.za
