Two trapped mining employees brought to safety

Pretoria - The two out of the four mining employees who were trapped underground following a rockfall at Harmony Gold's Target Mine in the Free State have been brought to safety.

The mine's spokesperson Marian van der Walt confirmed that they had been brought to the surface on Monday afternoon. However, the two other employees died as a result of the accident.

Van der Walt told BuaNews that the men who were brought to the surface had been taken to hospital and were in a stable condition.

She added that the company was currently "busy making the area" safe.

Harmony Gold is one of the world's largest gold mining companies.-
