Pretoria – Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the brutal murder of a senior Ekurhuleni Metro Police officer.

The suspects were arrested a day after the murder of Major Koert Jordan in Springs, Gauteng.

"The suspects were arrested in the Daveyton/Etwatwa area and they were found in possession of Major Jordan's stolen service firearm, cell phone jammer and an unlicensed firearm.

“The police also recovered the officer's Nissan Navara, which was stolen when he was killed. We are following a few leads right now because we have information that there may have been more people involved," said Ekurhuleni Police Chief General Bafana Mahlabe.

Ekurhuleni Mayor Mondli Gungubele has commended members of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department for working swiftly on the case.

"… To make such a major breakthrough less than two days after such an incident is great news. Now that the police have made this breakthrough, we shall allow the law to take its course."

The Mayor also appealed to the community to intensify their stance against the killing of police officers.
