Two days left to register for supplementary exams

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Pretoria - Last year's matric students who failed two or more subjects or would like to improve their marks have until Wednesday to register or apply to write the supplementary examinations.

According to the Department of Education, candidates must register at the school or province in which they wrote the 2008 National Senior Certificate examination.

Candidates will be required to produce a valid form of identification when registering for and when writing the supplementary examinations.

Supplementary examinations will be conducted at cluster centers that are linked to the candidate's original centre from 17 February to 23 March.

The pupils are required to obtain admission letters for the supplementary examination from the district office where entries were submitted. These letters will be available from the district office on 6 February.

The admission letter, together with the candidate's identity document, will be required before he or she is permitted into the examination room, the department said.

Learners can SMS their student number to 35909 to verify if they qualify for the supplementary examination and the timetable for the supplementary examinations can be obtained from the department's website www.education.gov.za.

The department has advised all candidates who wish to repeat their entire Grade 12 National Senior Certificate that they will be able to write in October and November 2009.
