Pretoria - South Africa’s participation at the World Economic Forum (WEF), which is underway at the Swiss resort of Davos, is going smoothly.
The Presidency on Thursday said Team South Africa has been received positively.
“The message that South Africa is open for business is being communicated by the President, Ministers and business leaders in all sessions in Davos,” the Presidency said.
President Jacob Zuma is currently leading a powerful delegation at the forum, which includes ministers and business people.
Team South Africa has the mammoth task of convincing investors that fiscal policy remains sound, and that South Africa remains the preferred investment destination and gateway to African markets.
South Africa’s participation at the WEF comes at a critical time for the South African economy as it deals with the impact of a severe drought on food prices.
The Presidency also slammed reports of President Zuma withdrawing from the CNBC Africa debate at short notice.
“The Presidency informed the organisers last week that the President would be unable to participate in the debate. The Presidency advance team in Davos also continuously informed the organisers that the President would not participate.” – SAnews.gov.za
