Pretoria – A task team has been set up to investigate the murder of Warrant Officer Petrus Johannes Holz, 50, who was attacked by two suspects this morning.
Holz, who is attached to the Hawks’ Commercial Crime Unit, was driving to work on Wednesday morning when his car apparently hit debris on Cape Town’s N2 highway.
Stopping to inspect the vehicle, he was then attacked by two suspects. Preliminary investigations indicate that he was stabbed with a blunt object and some of his personal items were stolen.
The brutal murder of Holz prompted Acting Head of the Directorate for Priority Crimes Investigation (HAWKS), Major General Mthandazo Ntlemeza, to assemble a Task Team to bring the killer(s) to book and has vowed not to leave any stone unturned to bring justice to the family of the dedicated deceased cop.
“One brave member will not be going home to his loved ones tonight, and for that, there is no justification.
“Officers who serve and protect our communities risk their own safety for ours every single day and they deserve the community's respect and gratitude every single day. I would like to urge the community of Cape Town to work very close with the police so that those responsible for this terrible act are captured,” said Major Ntlemeza.
He further extended his deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of Holz. – SAnews.gov.za
