Pretoria - Suspected RDP housing fraudster Bafana Ntuli is expected to appear before the Alberton Magistrates court on Friday.

Police arrested Ntuli who became known to the public after he was jointly exposed by both the Sowetan and eTV's 3rd Degree programme in July earlier this year.

Gauteng Local Government and Housing MEC Kgaogelo Lekgoro said he was happy that the suspect has been arrested. "We hope that more people who were defrauded will come forward to make statements with the police in order to strengthen the case against him."

Lekgoro applauded the police for arresting the suspect who has eluded the long arm of the law for three months.

"We would like to caution other people who might be thinking of defrauding the state that they too will be uncovered and brought to book. In the past we have arrested people who, for one reason or the other, thought that they could defraud the state and sell RDP houses meant for the poor," he said.

He added that the more people who came forward to give evidence, the better the chances for him to go to prison for a long time.

People who might have been defrauded by Ntuli and would want to volunteer to give more information about his activities may contact Inspector Mahlangu on (011) 871-5000 or (011) 871-5306 or 083 429-1255
