Suspect arrested for child exploitation

Pretoria - Police continue to make inroads arresting suspects involved in the sexual exploitation of children.

On Wednesday, Gauteng police arrested a 39-year-old Boksburg man for allegedly taking and posting photos of his girlfriend’s four year old daughter.

The photos, according to police, were then shared with users as far as the United States of America under the online alias known as “APE Man”.

During the arrest, the police also seized three laptops, two external hard drives, two cell phones, three SD cards, a mini spy camera, a digital audio player and a playstation.

“The suspect is alleged to have taken as many as 50 pictures of the victim in naked poses and advertising them online, while the child’s mother was oblivious of what her daughter was being subjected to by her boyfriend,” police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said.

The suspect will appear in the Boksburg North Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

He has been charged for manufacturing, possession and distribution of child porn. - SAnews.gov.za
